During a year-long practicum in this program she learned to accommodate students’ needs within a mainstream classroom. She is also accredited as an Associate level Orton Gillingham tutor with the Academy of Orton Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. It was this training that really made Christina understand the importance of a solid literacy foundation as well as an early intervention approach to help at-risk students succeed in school.

Prior to moving to Boston, Christina obtained two Bachelor’s degrees from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver: A Bachelor of Education with a focus on Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Arts with a focus on Music. After her undergraduate, she worked as a classroom teacher in both the public and independent school system in Vancouver for 5 years.

Her experience as a Kindergarten teacher in Vancouver was valuable as it solidified her belief in a multisensory approach to learning and the need to tailor teaching styles to individual students' needs.

When she moved to Toronto, Christina took some time away from teaching to raise her three young children. She is very excited to join the team at Cole Academy..
